Web 3.0 Is Your Future Online

May 24th, 2008 · 4 Comments

So what does Web 3.0 mean to all of us online today? It is coming to the Web there is no question, so can we polish our crystal balls and predict what the new 3.0 will be like?
Certainly it means a big change to the internet and the way we will be interacting with it.

If you consider Web 1.0, or the “old way” we did things, using static webpages, and very little interaction between users and websites, you can easily see the change to Web 2.0. More interactive material, videos carrying more information, and an instantaneous interchange potential between the user and website through comment forms without even leaving the page.

And now heading into Web 3.0, the future, and what will it mean to us?

Predictions abound, but some concur that Web 3.0 technology will be easier to use, incredibly quick, will allow a high level of  customization, can be used on a multitude of devices, available to almost everyone, and will solve many problems for the participants.

If your crystal ball can predict even a hint of what that might be.. do not hesitate to act on the information. Those mired in the old technologies will be rapidly left behind to flounder while those who embrace Web 3.0 will experience an amazing future of possibilities.

On Shaky Ground - New Madrid Faultline Earthquake

April 18th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Did you feel this morning’s 5.4-magnitude Illinois earthquake??
At 4:30 a.m. Friday morning, that ”all shook up” feeling in the floor wasn’t the King (Elvis) making a comeback, it was a REAL LIFE earthquake folks! Right in the midwest of the continental United States!

In fact it’s an active geological area prone to earthquakes every 300-500 years, the most recent  major earthquake event being 3 major shakers back in the winter of 1811-12 one of which reportedly caused the Mississippi to run backwards, but in nearby Bellmont there was an earthquake registering 5.0 in 2002.

While this quake wasn’t on a scale of the 1811 event (reportedly near 8.0 on the Richter Scale) it does seem very odd to hear of earthquakes in places like Vernon County and the Coulee Region in southeastern Illinois. We are certainly more accustomed to hearing about earthquakes in Japan, the Pacific Rim, or California..

It just goes to show how dynamic and changing this planet really is, and although to us these geologic events seem far between and rare, from a geological viewpoint the earths crust is an ever changing and dynamic environment.
Still..if I had my preferences of where to live, I’d feel a lot safer in Vernon County Illinois than in San Bernadino California.
