DELL was forced to reveal more snapshots of it’s newest product, a Mini-Inspiron laptop computer. The Mini-computer is reported to have a screen size of about 9.5 inches, and was being carried by Michael Dell at the “All Things Digital” conference. The photographer, none other than Brian Lam of Gizmodo wasted no time in getting his snapshots back to head office where they were quickly posted on the Gizmodo website, forcing the Direct2Dell site to release it’s pictures.
It’s a cute looking little unit in Candy Apple Red, with an estimated 1024×600 resolution, three USB ports, a card reader, VGA out, and Ethernet. It has a reduced size keyboard, and no other specs are presently available. There was a comment by Michael Dell that the computer is a low cost notebook meant for developing countries.

The Secret Dell Laptop might be good for some people and I am sure it is more convenient, but I have a problem here and that is the SIZE!
I don’t know about other people, but even though i have small hands, how does one type without getting all tangled? Also how the heck do you see a screen so small…in a world where we have 60 inch plasma T.V’s as the norm, this is quite an adjustment for ones vision one would think.
It would be interesting to hear from others who may be in the market for this hot product and get their input.
Thanks Tim for this news story.
To Your Success,
Diane

Hi Diane,
Well when you consider the miniscule keyboards on things like PDA’s, Blackberry’s, and other personal computers… this keyboard will seem massive!
I think the key here is portability and utility. Without more information as to the hardware..it’s anyone’s guess, but I think it’s going to be popular with the “minimalists” in the crowd.

Yes the key board and screen would be huge compared to a blackberry. I for one do not see how you could do alot of work on a blackberry. I have trouble typing at the best of times. Maybe Dell is bringing it out to compete in that niche market. One thing we don’y know though, What is the price?
Upon further review it may be found to be more of a fad purchase as Tim would say for the minimalist crowd.

This is amazing and fantastic.
More so that I live in a developing world country and if at the right price well wow.
I see Diane’s comments above.
As to using the keyboard even with small hands the pencil with an eraser at the other end is one of the best tools to use on a small keyboard.
Believe me if that is all the developing world can afford as in a computer they will make a plan to use it and with glee if it means having at long last a computer.
Well done Dell and thank you.

The Dell mini computer will no doubt have its own niche market being small, compact and easy to carry. I don’t believe the screen would be easy to read. As for typing I would probably use a pencil with an eraser.
If the price is right this would probably be a great unit for meetings and small projects.
