Look out Skype users.
There’s a new kid on the blog.. er block..
A new networking “system” called “Skype Assist” designed to allow it’s users to search the Skype user database for keywords of their choice and then auto invite those Skype members it locates to become their Skype contact.
Let me just tell any of you folks who choose to use (read abuse) this tool and send me spammy invitations, you can expect a rapid complaint report to Skype headquarters as quick as I can type it out.
I use Skype strictly as a communication tool for my online business activities, and it’s a great one at that, however I detest people sending me spammy requests to check out their new marketing promotion, to buy their new affiliate product, or to go and visit their new website.
Skype is like my land-line phone. It’s private. I’ve shared my contact info with people with the intent to communicate by chat or voice, and any other use is unwelcome. Period.
As for “Skype Assist”? Well folks. If you’re looking for a marketing “magic bullet” you’ll be (yet again) sadly disappointed. There is no such thing. Making money online takes perseverance, hard work, and a willingness to learn new things. Online marketing is a business, and carries with it very much the same responsibilities and needs as a bricks and mortar business. To think otherwise is just asking for pain, suffering and financial loss.
I personally will be giving “Skype Assist” a wide berth, and I suggest that all my friends and contacts do the same.
